Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about how our services work.

How is this different than the warranty that comes with the vehicle?

WarrantyDirect’s Extended Vehicle Coverage+ goes above & beyond your vehicle manufacturer’s warranty by adding benefits (such as full-coverage, wear & tear protection, roadside service, and more) and pays the cost of repairs. This does not replace the manufacturer’s warranty, but it does enhance it. Additional coverage options cover damage to wheels, tires, windshield and minor dents, which are not part of the manufacturer’s warranty.

How is it possible to buy an Extended Warranty online without inspection?

Our vehicle coverage plans are rated for turn-key enrollment Once we have the actual vehicle Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and mileage (odometer reading) – we can complete your extended warranty enrollment, allowing you to purchase online, without us having to inspect your vehicle.

Can I buy a care plan for a vehicle I already own?

Yes, as long as it meets the eligibility criteria (see section on Vehicle and coverage eligibility).

How does the claims process work?

Simply take your vehicle to a franchise dealership service department or a trusted ASE-Certified mechanic, they will handle the claims process for you. If you’d like to have our contact our specialist directly, they can be reached at 1-888-251-6441 to initiate a claim. We can inform you of approved repair facilities near you.

Are there things that make a vehicle ineligible for coverage?

There are a number of things that may exclude a vehicle from being eligible for coverage:

  • It is more than twelve years old
  • Its odometer is over 150,000 miles
  • It has powertrain modifications, or performance-enhancing add-on parts
  • It was reconstructed from salvage, declared a total loss, declared a lemon, or if the original manufacturer’s warranty was voided for any reason
  • You have violated the terms and agreement by coverage enrollment with prior knowledge of pre-existing repairs needed**
  • It is used for municipal or professional emergency or police services, commercial-use, taxi, Uber or Lyft

What are the coverage limits in years and miles?

You can customize your coverage by choosing the annual mileage and the term, both start from when you purchase the Vehicle Service Contract. Whichever limit you hit first (mileage or years) will end the coverage. Drive a lot of miles each year? Then pick a larger number of miles. Keeping your vehicle for a long time? Then pick a larger number of years.

Can I transfer this contract to someone else if I sell or give my vehicle to someone else?

Yes, this contract may be transferred to someone else under specific conditions. Contact one of our specialists at 1-888-251-6441 to initiate a transfer

How is the coverage paid for?

Pay at the frequency that is comfortable for you – full-payment, 3 months, or 6 months. Payments are made using the debit/credit card, bank account, or PayPal account of your choice. Promo Codes/Discounts apply for the full-payment options only. There is no-interest charged on the reoccuring payment options. If you choose the 3-month or 6-month payment option, you are responsible to satisfy those payments for your coverage enrollment to remain active.

What are my responsibilities as the vehicle owner?

You must maintain your vehicle (standard regular maintenance requirements), and keep records of the maintenance, as we may require you to show evidence that you have done so. Ongoing maintenance is done at your own expense. Please see the Terms & Conditions for details on what is considered acceptable documentation of maintenance.

Where can my vehicle be repaired?

You can choose which repair shop is convenient for you, however we highly-recommend going to a trusted franchise-dealer service department. If you’re not sure where to take it, our team of experts can direct you to a qualified repair provider near you.
